It is with great sadness that we have to announce the closure of the Vault Shop with effect from 3rd of February 2017
The shop has been a source of huge inspiration and hope to many young people who have passed through its doors as volunteers over the past 5 years and has been instrumental in changing the lives of those volunteers by giving them the experience and life skills they would not otherwise have obtained in the normal run of day to day living.
The staff of East Wicklow Youth Service have themselves given selflessly to this venture and we have enjoyed interacting with and supporting the young people in their endeavours to better themselves and to contribute back to the community they sprang from.
However, times change, and the trainees have moved on, which leaves us with a
program that does not fulfil the function we originally envisaged for it, which is to help and train young adults so as to better integrate into work in a modern society.
We as an organisation are also struggling to maintain the level of services we offer to all our other programs where we work with young people due to losing a number of very dedicated CE staff members in the past few months, whom we are having difficulty in replacing.
This means we do not have the resources to maintain certain services, and the heart breaking decision has had to be made to close the shop.
The closure affects not only us, but the many loyal and generous customers who have passed through the doors many times in the past.
To those customers, we say a huge THANK YOU for all your support and for your donations over the years without which we would not have been able to keep going.
We thank the CE staff past and present, the young volunteers who were a joy to work with, and the people of Arklow for their generous contributions and donations since the shop opened its doors.
Should you wish to inquire about any of the other services we provide, please go to our website on www.eastwicklowyouth.weebly.com or contact us on 0402 39646
